What to Wear to the Dress Form Ball?

I warned her over and over again, but she didn't listen.  If she continued to procrastinate and couldn't find a pretty frock for the Dress Form Ball, she'd have to stay home or attend wearing nothing but the antique dresser scarves one of her sisters wore to the Dress Form Ball last year.

She decided to go with just the dresser scarves rather than sit at home and miss all the fun.  The poor dear has been so busy with other things and just lost track of time.  She was concerned about being late for the ball, so I thought it would be a good idea for her to wear some jewelry made from watch parts to help keep her on schedule.

She did manage to find a pretty new lace belt and she thought it would be a good way to hide the line between one scarf and the other.  She's so vain.

The silly girl started hitting the punch right away and thought the pink lampshade would make a nice hat.  Please don't judge her...we've all been there.  She was rescued from a yard sale for just $5 when I found her sitting in the driveway and missing her legs.

Her older sister chose to wear a pretty black velvet and lace dress that belonged to my grandmother.
She's also a procrastinator and ran out of time to shop for a new gown, then she remembered how good she felt wearing this beautiful antique dress.

A few thin wires attached to the back of the lace collar help it stand up.

A couple of years ago I made this necklace out of the watch my grandmother gave me for my high school graduation.  It stopped working after a few years probably because of over winding it, but I held onto it all these years. I removed the band and replaced the inside gears with
a little black and white picture of her, added a glass bead, then hung it on a sterling
 silver chain.

I'm hoping they both arrive on time and behave themselves.  Maybe next year they won't wait so long to go shopping.

Hi Betsy, Both your girls are beautiful. I adore the dresser scarf dress and all the pretty watchpart jewelry pieces. Love the lampshade hat too. Don't judge me, either, lol. It's wonderful that you have that lovely dress from your grandma. What a wonderful heirloom piece. It's classy and looks great on your girl.
Have a happy week!

I thought the lacey tablecloths were the prettiest things I've ever seen...and then she put on the lampshade hat...along with dangly earrings and made me laugh. And I just THOUGHT she was the prettiest! The elegant black dress just blows me away. What an elegant and fabulous dress and the most perfect necklace! WOW! I am SO impressed. You've outdone yourself this year!

In this business, haven't we all ended up with a few lamp shades in the wrong places on a couple of occasions? And besides, I think it adds so much to her costume. Your grandmother's dress is stunning, a real family treasure.

Well, I think BOTH sisters look lovely! Though at first glance, with the lampshade, I questioned just how much champagne the younger sister was helping herself to at this event! (0; Love the black velvet dress on her older sister, and the remade necklace from the watch your grandmother gave you is beautiful!... Very nice meeting you all here today, via The Dress Form Ball! ~tina

I told Mona she couldn't go because she is such a floozy she wouldn't fit in but I'm feeling bad about it now because clearly she and your lamp shade lady would have hit it off at the punchbowl.

Oh Betsy...Well, this explains it, when your girls got off the carriage the younger one grabbed 2 glasses of bubbly off the tray! Oh, my you should have heard the gasp from the guests!!! Of course the men here are all flocking around her, I am not so sure it is her dresser scarf dress either!!...Men, well not to worry her prim older sister is keeping her in check, she is so lovely with her black velvet dress and heirloom watch necklace....I am sooo glad your girls could attend the ball, I promise to get them home safe and sound!

Cute post - Love it! :-D Yep - Maybe the older one in the black conservative dress will keep the younger set dressed in lace and lots of bling under control. Just maybe. :D Love the lamp shade hat.

Older sister's black velvet dress with lace collar & sleeve bands is to die for! But my absolute favorite piece is the necklace from your graduation watch. So precious!

(In this economy your girls showed restraint in not shopping & racking up a huge dress bill. Can't blame a young miss for having a touch too much bubbly at the party.)

Hi Betsy, oh your girls are lovely. Love the lamp shade. We all have been there one time or another. LOL The watch jewels is a creative accent.
Older sister is stunning in the black velvet gown. Love how the collar is wired to stand up. The necklace you made using your old watch is beautiful. Such a wonderful keepsake to have and enjoy.
I am sure your girls will have a fabulous time dancing the night away.
Have fun, Celestina Marie

Isn't it like sisters to be somewhat different in their styles. That watch necklace with the picture is a smart and sweet idea. I also liked the dress the first sister wore made out of dresser scarves. That girl was clever with her makeshift outfit, but I think she could use a chaperone!
